Meadow Creek PR42G Propane Pig Roaster

Meadow Creek PR42G is an entry-level propane pig roaster that cooks a hog weighing up to 125 pounds on the hoof without needing to flip the meat during the cook. Beyond whole pigs, its second-tier grate can hold up to 20 pork butts or 24 whole chickens, and dual shut-offs with a thermocoupled pilot keep the propane burner safe to run.

An easier way to roast a hog

PR42G roaster position

Most whole-hog cookers ask you to rotate the animal by hand every hour or run a motorized spit; the PR42G skips that step entirely. The PR42G roasts a hog weighing up to 125 pounds on the hoof without turning the meat during the cook, which makes it a reasonable first pig roaster for someone who has never cooked a whole animal before. A slanted drip pan drains grease out through a drip tube instead of letting it pool and flare under the fire.

When a whole hog isn't on the menu, the PR42G's second-tier grate holds up to 20 pork butts or 24 whole chickens, so it earns its keep between hog roasts as a regular low-and-slow smoker. The PR42G runs on propane through a 1 inch pipe burner rated at roughly 82,000 BTU, with dual shut-offs and a thermocoupled pilot built in for safety. Meadow Creek smokers are welded by hand in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the same shop behind every pig roaster in this catalog.
